WhatsApp private group chats invite links were once again indexed by Google. And that means anyone can join the group with simple Google Search.

This not only brings a big privacy concern but also raises a question — how to prevent something like this from happening u?

As it can be a tedious task to check whether your group has been indexed by Google or not, the better option is to reset the invite link and create a new one.

Doing this will disable the old invite link for the group, which means the old link is no longer valid for that particular group.

Pre-requisites:

  • Admin rights for the group
  • Working internet connectivity

Steps to reset WhatsApp group invite link

Open WhatsApp

Tap on the ‘Lens’ icon at the top right corner and search the group

Now, tap on the group name to open Group info

4.

Scroll down and tap on Invite via link option

5.

Then, tap on the Reset link option

6.

Confirm by tapping on Reset Link option on the popup window

After this, you will see a notification popup saying “The previous invite link has been reset and a new invite link has been created”.

Repeat the same for other groups or you can ask admins of other groups to follow the above steps to reset the invite link.
