In this how-to guide, will tell you the right method to delete WhatsApp from your smartphone. Read on to know more.
Step 1: Prepare yourself and brace for impact
First up, ensure to take a complete backup of your WhatsApp data such as chats, media and other. Taking chat backup might be a little tricky, but you can simply copy and paste all your WhatsApp photos and videos to PC or cloud.
Inform others that you have switched to Signal or any other messaging app for that matter. That brings us to our third point.
It is obvious that not all of your friend, colleague, family, etc must be ready to make the switch from WhatsApp. So you might lose a few people, groups, etc.
Step 2: Uninstal WhatsApp from your smartphone and delete your account
Merely uninstalling the app from your smartphone won’t solve the problem as this will not delete WhatsApp account and so the data will be there with Facebook or WhatsApp. To right way to do this is to delete the account first and then uninstal the WhatsApp.
How to delete WhatsApp account
Open WhatsApp app on your smartphone
Tap on vertical three-dot(s) from the top right corner
Choose Settings and head to Accounts
Now, tap on Delete my account
Enter your phone number along with country code and tap on Delete my Account button from the bottom of the screen.
That’s it, you can now go ahead and delete WhatsApp from your phone.
