Windows can be unbootable for many reasons. Sometimes when everything such as your files and data are still intact but it is just the boot sector that just got corrupted. If a person only knows how to reinstall Windows, he/she would have wasted hours backing up all the data, reinstalling windows, reinstalling drivers and third party applications and finally restoring the data. However if the user knew how to fix the boot problem, it would have taken 5 to 10 minutes at most to make Windows bootable and everything is back to normal.
Windows 7 comes with a very handy built-in feature where you can press F8 and select Repair Your Computer. From there, there is a place to try to fix boot problems. Even if you can’t press F8, inserting the Windows 7 installation disc also provides this feature. However for older operating system such as Windows XP, there is no such feature and using the fixboot commands are risky. An easier way is to use Paragon Rescue Kit 9.0 Express Edition.
The express edition is the free version for the Profesisonal version which cost money and has more features. However the express edition is good enough since it has File Transfer Wizard, Undelete Partition and Boot Correcter. The boot corrected allows you to cure the majority of boot problems for Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003 and Vista. You will need to download the installer, request a free key and then burn it to a disc to boot up computer with.
